Dremio failed to upgrade from v24 to v25

Hello,

Following the update of the Dremio AWS Enterprise Edition from version 24 to 25, we encountered an issue where the service fails to start, displaying the error below. Despite attempts to recreate the master, create a new project, and copy the database from the previous EBS to the new one, we are still unable to start the service.

Logs.zip (11,1,KB)

Could you please provide guidance on how to resolve this issue? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

This error happens if the secrets can’t be decrypted. Is there any private key at /opt/dremio/conf/security/system.p12 ? The key was used for encryption and then did it accidentally got deleted?

When we go through the folders, the security folder is nowhere to be found. We have never ran the encrypt command either. Any other idea?

Hi @balaji.ramaswamy

I work with @JuliaKlebanowycz and today we tested updating the project from the version we had, 25.0.3, to the new version 25.0.7, but the same error keeps happening.

Any ideas how to fix this?

@joelhansen Unfortunately your backup cannot be restored, do you have scripts to add sources, spaces, folders, views and reflections back?

@balaji.ramaswamy
We don’t need to be able to recreate sources, users, reflections. We can redo all of this, but we need to have the SQL codes that formed our views in that version 25.0.3.
As it is not possible to restore the complete project, is there a way to just restore/extract the SQL of views definitions?

@joelhansen Any chance you have backup of your information_schema.views or sys.views table?
