I see that polaris catalog is not supported on Dremio community edition. I even tried using the property “plugins.restcatalog.enabled: true” inside dremio.conf, but this also didn’t help. Is there any other way we can connect to polaris catalog from the community edition?
Polaris is a REST catalog. When you enable plugins.restcatalog.enabled, you will get the option to add a “REST Iceberg Catalog” when adding a source.
I haven’t tried with Polaris specifically, but it has worked for me with two other catalog implementations

Dremio team, Is Apache catalog support in community edition part of roadmap or is it part of the managed version only?
They are slowly moving free core features (available in Dremio Software edition) into paid ones. They’ve become greedy, and it’s not a good sign.
They are forgetting what made Dremio popular in the first place: it’s the open-source feature. 90% of people choose Dremio because it’s free and open-source. And I’m sure that people into paid/enterprise features won’t choose Dremio since there are many better choices in the paid market.
