Tarball Installation

Guys, the documentation about the Tarball Installation seems a little odd. The section 3. Create Dremio directories talks about changing permissions in the /var/ dir, but Dremio actually writes data and log inside his home dir - /opt/dremio.

Is something missing?

P.S.: Also section 2 needs a sudo before adding the dremio user.

Hey @allan.sene, in the follow-up article Configuring Dremio, there is information on the default locations for various options and steps to change these.

That said, thanks for bringing this confusion to our attention – we’ll take a look and see if we can clean up both sections and simplify.
